Beginning life as a Castle in 1068, Nottingham
Castle is now an impressive 17th Century Ducal Mansion. It is home
to a museum and impressive art gallery, underground Caves, a cafe
and shop and glorious grounds and gardens.
within this small museum, which by no
means, specialises in Sikh or indeed
Indian Arms are a few Sikh relics. Items include a Khanda in the
classic 19th Century Lahore style with a pistol in the hilt, saddles
of the Sikh Raja of Jind , a Sikh Kalgi, weapons from Patiala (swords,
arrows and shields) and some chakkars of various design and origin.
Other items are in storage at the museum, but can be seen by appointment.
