45th Rattray's Sikhs - Lieutenant H B Rattray, 1897
The son of Thomas Rattray who raised the regiment in 1856 that later became the reknowned 45th Sikhs. He was a charismatic and popular leader. He was only 27 when he was put in charge of Chakdara Fort in the Malakand area in July 1897. He recieved the DSO
