14th Ferozepore Sikhs Bengal Native Infantry Sepoy, 1886
This watercolour by Lieutenant AC Lovett shows the sepoy in review order. The volominous red turban, which reduced in size towards the end of the 19th century, was worn in recognition of the regiment's efforts at Lucknow during the Mutiny. He appears to be armed with the old percussion rifle at a time when the British Army had taken on the Martini Henry.
